Project Description
This project is one of five UoA building refurbishments that will facilitate the relocation of the University of Auckland’s Faculty of Education and Social Work (EDSW) from the Auckland Epsom Campus to the City Campus. The proposed design envisions Old Choral Hall as the heart of EDSW City Campus, housing administration staff, student spaces, the School of Critical Studies in Education, and postgraduates from the School of Learning, Development and Professional Practice.
Old Choral Hall (B104) is a Category 1 heritage building originally designed in 1872. The project requires a delicate balance of heritage considerations, significant structural strengthening, and a complete building modernisation strategy of entirely new building services, installation, and interior fit- out.
