Project Description
Pearson House is a Category A heritage building and was originally designed to provide a suitable residential environment for the 50 blind people it was to house and this large but non-institutional building admirably suited that purpose.
The scope of the Pearson House Refurbishment project includes seismically upgrading the existing building to 70% NBS and then fully upgrading the interior and exterior so that it can be utilised as communal facilities for the independent living apartments that are being constructed within the wider precinct.
Pearson House creates an important entry point for visitors into the Foundation Village Precinct and will serve as a residents’ activities and lounge zone, with views overlooking the domain. A cafe on the ground floor aims to be the welcoming and lively feature to the design.
