Project Description

The University of Auckland’s Clocktower building is a Category A listed heritage building designed in 1929 by Roy Lippincott and is the University’s flagship building.

The project involved converting two floors in the south wing into one interconnected space to accommodate the Vice Chancellor’s Suite. Interaction between the two levels was achieved by opening the floor and inserting a new internal staircase.

Precon’s Role

Precon were the Project Managers across the Briefing, Design, Demolition, and Procurement Phases. Key initiatives included the establishment of the project programme, staging and enabling works, as well as the demolition strategy and carefully management of the interface between the buildings heritage character and buildability.
