Project Description
A significant and strategic building for the University of Auckland Faculty of Science. This 11-storey development is located on their City Campus site. The Science Centre provides accommodation for the executive and administration functions of the Faculty of Science, as well as research and academic functions for the School of Environment, Departments of Psychology, School of Chemical Sciences, and Department of Computer Science.
Precon’s Role
Geoff Horne was the Design Manager throughout the design phase and Precon throughout the Developed Design, Detailed Design and Tender/IFC phases of this project located on a challenging inner city site. Key issues included establishing key staging considerations and enabling work packages, demolition strategy, and managing Early Contract Involvement for key trades such as façade procurement and buildability.
