Project Description
This two-storey building is classed in the New Zealand Heritage List / Rārangi Kōrero as a Category 2 Historic Place. Known to the University of Auckland as B240, this is one of the oldest masonry buildings in Auckland, making it a significant piece of history for both Auckland and the University.
The project involved structural strengthening to create well-tied monolithic structures to meet modern seismic requirements. Building Services were upgraded throughout and preservation of the original fabric and architectural typology was achieved by retaining all intact existing heritage fabric. Modern elements considered harmful to the ongoing lifecycle of the building were removed and several key architectural façade features were reinstated.
